Shade grown coffee has been identified as an important land management practice that provides multiple environmental and social benefits. A polyculture system promotes a more efficient use of resources, food security and improved livelihoods. It also has the potential to generate additional benefits besides coffee production such as timber, fruit production, fuelwood, medicinal plants, adaptation to climate change, enhancement of resilience and as wildlife habitat. The video describes a South-South Knowledge Exchange on sustainable coffee landscapes in Burundi, Colombia, Ethiopia and Rwanda.
